On 9 October 1943, the Eight Air Force conducted an air raid on a 100 acre German aircraft plant in Marienburg, Germany. 96 B-17 Flying Fortresses bombed and destroyed all but one of the buildings at the plant. The plant, acquired by the Luftwaffe in 1934, produced nearly half of the German Air Force’s Focke Wulf Fw 190s.
